Dalal & Mehta by Dalal Mehta Staff
If you have filed for asylum, due to changes by the Trump administration, you are required to wait 365 days before applying for a work permit.
During normal situations, it may take 3 to 6 months for your work permit to arrive. If the USCIS is backlogged, it may take longer for your work permit to be processed.
After the 365-day waiting period is over, you will need to fill out Form I-765 and mail it to the USCIS service center. Please book an appointment with our firm to discuss the preparations necessary to provide supporting evidence. This evidence is important and will need to be sent along with your work permit application.
We know that you are eager to get to work as soon as possible. Waiting around for your work permit to come back can seem like an eternity.
Processing times can vary widely, and it is important that you speak with an immigration expert to weigh all your options. In some cases, work permits can be expedited. While we can’t guarantee that we can help speed up this process for you, we can help make things easier.
Our team of dedicated professionals is here for you when you need us. If you would like to have a deeper conversation about your work permit status, please give us a call today.
